Our tour at Lanes End was headed by Chance Timm, RTIP graduate and Director of Stallion Seasons. We started with several stallions being paraded for us one at a time, including Union Rags, West Coast, City of Light, Candy Ride and Accelerate. For each stallion, Chance explained what ownership likes about them. He also explained the qualities the organization values in a stallion and how their stallion syndicates work. This relates to the ACBS 444 class offered at the University because we go into depth regarding bloodstock, insurance, and stallion syndicates and breeding rights. Having this background knowledge allowed us to pick his brain and learn exactly how its applied in the real world.

After the parade, we toured the facilities, the graveyard for previous standing stallions, and the breeding shed. At each point of the tour, Chance explained the use of teaser stallions and the breeding process. For students on the equine path, this related to the ACBS 316 course covering Equine Reproduction.

Finally, we toured the stallion barn that housed stallions including Honor Code, Liam’s Map, and pensioned stallion A.P. Indy. We posed for pictures with A. P. Indy, who accepted payment in the form of peppermints.
